Tommy and the Weeks: Wonderbang
Pleasance Beside, Edinburgh Fringe 2009, 5:10pm
Directed by Hannah Mackay

"A dizzyingly inventive show... A landscape where the sublime and the ridiculous don't just meet, they fall in love and have babies... Frighteningly tight, mapped with military precision and trimmed of hollow self-indulgence. As brilliant as a fish on a bicycle and even more preposterous." Chortle

"Had the audience eating out of the palms of their hands by the third minute with a unpredictability and verve that was astonishing to watch." Three Weeks

"Insanely brilliant... Sparks of genius litter the writing with some of the skits and sequences dazzling with sheer brilliance." National Student Magazine

"Wonderful, beautiful things can happen when opposites attract... A quotable and laugh-out-loud adventure." Festbuzz

Tommy and the Weeks: Powershow!
Pleasance Attic, Edinburgh Fringe 2008, 5:45pm
Directed by Hannah Mackay

Ed and Tom explored the pros and cons of wind, near-death experiences as a way of catching up on missed TV programmes, and what happened when Ed's guitar connected to the internet. But what was Powershow!, anyway? And why did it feel like it was watching us?

"This is one of the full-on funniest hours I can remember spending... Surreal comedy at its best... This hour is pretty much as good as you'll get."
The Scotsman

"A breath of fresh air... Bursting with ideas and imagination... Oddball and hilarious." Fest

"They play off one another superbly... Packed with laughs." Edinburgh Festivals Magazine

"May become a future great British double act, carrying on the tradition from where other greats such as Morecambe & Wise and Reeves & Mortimer have left off." Guardian Guide

This was our high-concept second show, in which the show itself came to life, fell in love with Tom and tried to kill Ed. The finale saw Powershow!’s heart revealed as Tom’s lost love, an old 80s calculator, which could only be destroyed by the ultimate sacrifice from Ed in a moving tribute to the power of friendship and an artful homage to seminal science fiction.

This was the one with the badges?

With the badges, yes.

Good show. One of the highlights was when Powershow! would kill the technician every night. We can actually reveal that this was all done by acting and no real techies were killed.

Although two did die during the run, but that was from natural causes.

Is badge poisoning natural?

Tommy and the Weeks
Pleasance Attic, Edinburgh Fringe 2007, 4:30pm
Directed by Hannah Mackay

The one that started it all. Tom received his first visit from Shibboleth the Truth Faun, two shepherds found themselves at cross purposes and humanity was reminded to stop wanking on a tree.

"Gloriously surreal double-act... The finest laughs are the ones you don't understand. Discuss. For supporting evidence, we need look no further than Tommy and the Weeks, a surreal sketch show by comic actor Ed Weeks and stand-up Tom Bell... Even when the big laugh has long subsided, isolated individuals in the audience can still be heard chuckling uncontrollably to themselves. Frequently it was me. I still don't quite know why."
The Guardian

"With Ed Weeks' suited, straight(ish) man bouncing off Tom Bell's mitten-wearing indie kid, this is a frothy hour of radio-ready sketches and much to-audience jousting. 'I wanted this to be slick with a strong Right-wing message,' bemoans Weeks, 'and you've got Tom's piss whimsy instead.'" Metro

This was our first Edinburgh show. At this point we didn’t even know if the dream had legs. Or how many legs it had. Or what that even would mean. Whether that would be positive or not.

I don’t remember this one.

Tom, it was only a couple of years ago. You must remember it. Nelson Mandela was in the audience one night.

Don’t be silly, Ed. Nelson Mandela’s in jail. And rightly so.

You must at least remember that interview we did for a student radio station. If not, here’s the link.
